Two days ago we went dancing at El Mur; a plateau just out of town surrounded by wide arches that has a spectacular view of Bacelona and it´s surroundings. A small group of people from Begues showed us how to do a number of traditional dances from all over the world. For example, there were dances from France, England, Ireland and Romania among others. After dancing we had a picnic and enjoyed the view.

Yesterday morning ment more digging, in the afternoon we walked a route along some of Begues´ historical areas. There were multiple vertical caves, some up to a hundred meters deep, a relatively big Dolman, (a human-made rock formation) and many more interesting historically relevant places. When we finished our walk we ended up back at the cave, where we spend the night.

This morning was the last day of working of this camp. Overall this camp was an interesting experience. We learned a lot about Archeaology and how an excavation is carried out. All of us had a lot of fun in the last two weeks and we hope we will remember this experience for years to come.

Barcelona!

 By Team ROMANS

11.7.2019

Yesterday all of us went on a daytrip to Barcelona. Which ment we were finally gifted a break from the workshops. Everyone kind of did their own thing; some went to a museum, some went to Toró de la Rovira, some went full tourist and visited a number of classical monuments in Barcelona and others simply went shopping, be it for souvenirs or otherwise.

After having reunited in front of the Apollo theater we went on to the ICA (Instituto de Cerveza Artesana) brewery. Where they explained to us the process of making artesan beer. It was very interesting. Once our tour was over, we moved to a bar located three door down and had ourselves some of these artesan beers.

Today we went back to digging. It was discovered that the bone we spoke about in our last blog, was not from a human but infact from a cow. It was a bit of a disappointment, but still a very nice find.

Yesterday, we had a pottery workshop consisting of creating a vase or any other piece of ceramic. Everyone had the opportunity to create something unique. After dinner we had karaoke night which, while it started out fine, quickly degenerated into collective out of tune singing and dancing… Armenian style dancing.

Today we did the same work as usual. One of our fellow volunteers found an interesting piece of bone. It remains to be seen wheter it is human or belonged to an animal. Hopefully it is a human bone.

Few days left!

It looked like a normal work day at our favourite cave but the weather had a surprise for us… it started raining so we had to work altogether unther the rooftop of the cave. When we came back some of us went directly to the school and others decided to have fun in the swimming pool and swam under the rain.

When everyone was at school we decided to spend our free time watching “Harry Potter and the philosopher´s stone”. After the movie we had the (Harry) pottery workshop where we made some awesome balls of clay. Soon after we had dinner and played a game of Ninja that ended in tragedy 😟 (maybe, nobody understood what happened). After that it was free time for everybody.
