Last days at Begues :(

Anna, Selina and Argyrios, 11-12 /7

On the 11th of July we had the last work day of this workcamp. The huge fence was finally finished after hard work and now Pablo can feel safe for the cave. Later, Eli asked us to evaluate the activities of the workcamp and of course Dani was the most popular. The day was going normal, until Razmik started the Great Mud War. We had a lot of casualties, we ate a lot of mud and sand. In the end we decided to end the match as a tie, in order to save the cave. We are all still friends by the way, yes.

During the evening we had to prepare a gift for our “secret friend”, a girl or boy who doesnt know who it is. After dinner, Pablo Dani and Álvaro created a fire in order to burn the pottery that we had made some days ago and the farewell party begun. First we exchanged the secret gifts. Anna´s secret friend was Pablo, who created the best gift (see below). Argyris made a prehistoric statue of Posidon to Nina and apparently our friends were super good at drawing. A new Picasso maybe amongst us?

After the gifts we drunk (not much, we are nice guys) and we danced around the fire.

Today (12th of July), is a difficult day because everybody is going back home. Don’t cry guys, this is not an ending, it is the start of a new begining!! See you soon in Paris, Athens, Barcelona, Turkey, Russia, Hong Kong and rest of the world!!

With love

Enjoying the free day and back to work! Days 8-10/7

Nina, Razmik and Hrak, 8-10/7

During our free day, we went to the beach in Sitges, where we got to explore the local gay scene. We drank sangría and tried tapas. We spent the afternoon at the beach where we built a magnificent sand castle. We also rented a boat (pedalo) which fortunately Anton did not manage to sink.

The next day, we went back to our usual routine at the cave : cutting trees and sticks for Raz and Nina, digging in front of the cave for Hrak. During the afternoon, we cleaned a large number of materials – many of which were rabbit bones. In the evening, we played a chair game during which we created our own version of human towers – maybe more improvisation than castellers but not as much stability.

On July 10th, big news : Hrak joined the team to cut trees because apparently he ‘likes it very much’. The mystery behind this love of saws and plants is still to be discovered. Dani decided to give a lesson about mud wars by attacking Alvaro, Nina and the whole camp in order to get ready for the final mud battle tomorrow. This mud battle was followed by a water war at school, where Pablo attacked Nina without any notice by splashing twice her clean clothes.

In the afternoon we went to Eramprunya castle. We admired the beautiful landscape as well as the Depth of the archeological site. But on the way back, a terrible tragedy happened: Hrak got lost in the forest, alongside with Marc, Antonios and Argyrios. Argyrios flip flop broke, and they had to fix it so they could move on. Tragic times call for desperate measures: they started to collect berries for their dinner, to look for a shelter in caves, and to make sílex to hunt rabbits. Dani, Eli and Raz wandered in the woods for an hour to find them but fortunately everyone found their way back home.

Gavà and Barcelona! Days 6-7 of july

Katherine, Milorad, and Kristian 5-7/7

The 5-7rd of July were unique day as well. We visited Gava´s archeological museums and the first one was very interesting, because of the way the presented the materials. We walked into black boxes, where we had 3D presentations about Gava´s mining history.

After fabulous day in the cave,we headed to Knapping Workshop, where we broke some silex, flints and fingers. In the evening we headed to a dancing workshop close to Begues. We studied many traditional dances from  various countries. Some of them were very complicated, while others were easy to handle. Later we headed to Irish pub and enjoyed new owner´s beers.

The day after we headed to Barcelona, where we had an organized tour visiting the structures that date back from the Roman period. Then we separated into a couple of groups, some of us were having a relaxing day visiting the park, and then we learned an amazing song from a very persuasive food seller after initially refusing him, he started singing with the hope that we will change our minds ("Very very tasty, very very cheap, have a have a look, one euro each, if you don’t like it, I’ll buy you a meal"). It was a nice walk, and we were really enjoying!
